Use the right pool equipment

The size of the filter tank should be proportional to the size of the pump. If your tank is bigger than your pool pump, it means you are over working your pool pump, and that will reduce its life span. If the sand filter tank is smaller than the pump, then it means your filter tank is working under pressure, and it can easily burst.

As Poolplaza Zimbabwe we recommend the following brands of pool pumps and filter tanks, quality, speck, earth-co and sun command, because these have readily available spares in Zimbabwe, and they have been tried and tested. If we come across any other new brand that we recommend, we will advise in due course.

Check if you are you using the right size equipment for your swimming pool in order to save electricity, chemicals and daily cleaning hustle.

A 0.45kw pool pump should be paired with a 2 bag filter tank for a maximum of 25 000 litres of water.

A 0.60kw pool pump should be paired with a 2 bag filter tank for a maximum of 40 000 litres of water.

A 0.75kw pool pump should be paired with a 3 bag filter tank for a maximum of 75 000 litres of water.

A 1.1kw pool pump should be paired with a 4 bag filter tank for a maximum of 100 000 litres of water.

Fitting the wrong pool filtration equipment size can lead to a pool owner using more chemicals, electricity plus more labour for the pool minder in order to keep the pool clear. Recommended filtration time in summer is at least 12 hours per day and in winter, 6–8 hours. After a pool party or heavy bather load, back wash first, add chemicals and run pump overnight.
